Will There be Redemption for Those Engaging in Homosexual Relationships?

The churches of the world are divided on this question and I fail to understand why.  Our Christian forebears have been very clear on this question and for some extraordinary reason the churches of today with only few exceptions have failed in their primary message to those who seek to be redeemed back by God out of this world of sin.

Let me quote God’s word on the matter:

 Leviticus 18:22

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13           

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.  

Romans 1:24            

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

Romans 1:26 -29            

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;    Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

1Corinthians 6:9                

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

1Ti 1:8-10                  

But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,  For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

 

Is there anything plainer than these words.  We have been told that homosexual behaviour is an abomination and even though we are now several thousand years into the future from those early days, that judgment has not altered.  Don’t be fooled into thinking that homosexuality can be likened to the Kosher dietary laws that were relaxed for the goyim seeking God in the apostolic days of the disciples.

God knew that in time sinful man would seek to squirm around the laws of old so he re-affirmed in the New Testament that homosexuality was a barrier to being redeemed back to the Kingdom of God.  This is exactly why law was imposed upon man in the first place – to help him identify what was not acceptable behaviour in the eyes of God with the view to having mankind not engage in it.

There are a couple of ways we can look at this.  We could look at it in the extreme and say both the man and the act of disobedience are an abomination, but this is not correct.  Where the true Christian ethic shines is that we deem the act of disobedience to be an abomination, but we hold the one who is committing this act to be a fellow human who needs to be counselled to cease the abominable act if they wish to be redeemed back to God at their passing.

At the core of whether society should embrace homosexual behaviour as an acceptable form of human relationship is - if a person does or does not believe in God.  A person who does not believe in God, and therefore has no hope of redemption, is obliged by our society today to abide by the laws of the land.  The criminality of homosexual behaviour was removed many years ago and this opened the door to the situation in which society now finds itself.  If the law of the land is contrary to the will of God then very obviously our governments have signalled their departure away from God.  This is a very sad development.  We in this country have thereby removed ourselves out from under God’s blessing – and I am not surprised we have this current upheaval about this matter.  In effect God has been excluded on this matter in the nation and we will all duly suffer the long term consequences.

However none of this should impact on how Christians undertake their worship of God.  Within our congregations we need to hold fast our beliefs according to God’s word and our duties are to seek out sinful man, guide him through repentance of his sins that he might be redeemed back to God.  But there is a confusion here.  In following this work, the congregations have allowed unrepentant attendees to bring their disobedience to the altar and flaunt it before our worship of God.  And more so, have appointed unrepentant attendees to be priests. I ask the question, “Why have we capitulated to the sin of homosexuality to the point where it is the corner stone of our priesthood?”  It is bad enough that we have permitted female priests and ministers to pronounce over man in our worship services – a point of great concern, but not a surprising decision on behalf of the churches that are failing in numbers with an inability to attract both congregants and male ministers, and allowing homosexual behaviour within the believers group is just another step down in the decline of the faith that was once delivered to us by the saints of old.

However there is a bottom line.  Those that embrace homosexuality, whether in practise or even just acceptance of it have fallen into disobedience against God’s abiding will.  There is no man, church or government that can extinguish that which God has deemed to be an abomination.  Therefore any church preaching redemption for those who correctly should be alienated until they cease the practise are preaching a falsehood.  For them, the first step of repentance is the cessation of their disobedience.

So, now the question of changing the federal laws on marriage between a man and a woman.  If the general society votes to change the laws and allow same gender marriages it will mark the fall of the nation into a situation that looks something like the societal view of the old City of Sodom.  Good luck on that one.

Very clearly, before God, marriage is an institution between a man and a woman where each will leave their parents and become one together.  This is a spiritual mechanism where the two shall become one.  Any notion that this spiritual joining will work for man and man, or woman and woman is just fanciful fiction.  It just does not work like that.

If you are not Christian your life is in your own hands.  If you are Christian you have a set of strict values you need to maintain to see redemption back to the Kingdom of God.  Our Christian duty is to tell it like it is.  Resist sin and be obedient to God’s word – give up your abominations.
